Our April Spotlight is Lauren Kerepka, Director of Revenue Operations and veritable Cybba icon.
Lauren has been working her magic behind the scenes at Cybba since 2011, deftly balancing our books and winning us over with her wit and flawless curation of trivia questions. What can’t she do?
How long have you been in this position?
I have been in my current position since 2017, but I have been with Cybba since 2011!
What job did you want to have you were a kid?
I wanted to be a music journalist, which was only intensified when I saw Almost Famous for the first time. I still have dozens of my favorite issues of Rolling Stone.
Describe the path that brought you to Cybba.
I was working as a paralegal and considering law school when I realized I needed a change. The startup culture, collaborative atmosphere, and opportunity for growth made Cybba a perfect fit.
What do you enjoy the most about your role?
That it’s ever evolving, and I’m involved in essentially every area of the company. There’s never a dull moment!
Run us through a typical day in the Cybba office for you.
My day runs from running revenue forecasts, reviewing client agreements, and managing revenue for our international offices, but that’s all before the meetings and projects I’m brought into! I’m also involved in the fun stuff – I work with Casee Laznick, Cybba’s Peoples Operations Manager, on our Culture committee!
What is your best productivity tip for getting it all done?
Write out a physical to do list first thing in the morning - and immediately tackle any project that will take 5 minutes or less.
What are your favorite brands and why?
Primary. As a mom, it’s tough to find durable, well-made clothes. Primary offers solids and prints, without the overdone phrases, that can actually be passed down between my two boys.
What’s the best (non-Cybba) marketing campaign you’ve seen?
I loved Coca-Cola’s “Share a Coke” campaign. They were super diverse and inclusive and it became a hunt to find our family members' and loved ones' names. I still have a Diet Coke with my mom’s name saved away.
What is your favorite place in Boston?
I know it’s cliché – but without a doubt, it’s Fenway Park. I have some amazing memories with family and friends there - and I met my husband at a bar right next door!
What are 3 things you can’t live without?
My family, a good book, and Disney!
What has been your proudest moment/ favorite project at Cybba?
My favorite project has been creating a detailed revenue tracker that our entire company uses. It’s very fulfilling to know something I put a lot of time into is useful to so many on our team.
If you weren’t working in digital marketing, what would you be doing?
My dream job is to be a greeter at Disney World, welcoming everyone as they start their vacation. It’s part of my retirement plan.
If you could switch your job with anyone at Cybba, whose job would you want?
One of our graphic designers, for sure. I’m not very creative at all and I’m constantly impressed with what they are able to create out of nothing. They are magical!
