Employee Spotlight: Stephen Back

Without its team of world-class technologists, the Cybba office is just another trendy, converted warehouse with exposed brick. Cybba builds teams of innovative, analytical, and tenacious tech professionals to breathe life into every aspect of the company’s operations. Each individual elevates Cybba’s services from simply digital to truly transformational.

This month the spotlight's on Stephen Back, Account Executive in Cybba's Phoenix office.  When Stephen's not closing deals and dazzling clients, he's enjoying cold weather sports around the Valley of the Sun. Confused? We are too. Read on to learn how he does it.

How long have you been in this position?

1 year and 2 months.

What drew you to Cybba/ how did you get here?

Digital marketing drew me to Cybba. I was working in sports radio marketing and was limited by what capabilities I could sell. Since digital marketing is always changing, I knew there would always be new opportunities to help clients.

And Nicollette said Cybba was an awesome company.

What tips would you give an Account Executive entering the industry?

Spend the time to learn everything about your products. Product knowledge is everything in this industry. Ask lots of questions, listen in on as many meetings as possible, and never stop learning.

What do you enjoy the most about your role?

I enjoy building relationships with clients and their brands. Having them trust me to create successful campaigns to help their business succeed, sharing the successes together, and creating long term partnerships really motivates me.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?

I am a hockey player and snowboarder who grew up in Arizona. You have to find ways to beat the heat!

What are your favorites brands and why?

I’m a big watch guy and have always worn Nixon watches. I appreciate the brand’s creativity, design, and high quality.

And Mars Chocolate, because they make Snickers. And I’m obsessed with Snickers.

What is your favorite place in Arizona?

My favorite place in Arizona is Gila River Arena where I watch my beloved Arizona Coyotes play.

What are you currently binge-watching?

Peaky Blinders, You, The Morning Show, and The Bachelor (thanks to my wife).

How has Cybba helped in your career development?

Cybba has helped my career develop by allowing me to be involved in Account Management and Business Development, in addition to my responsibilities in Sales. The great thing about Cybba is that you get to wear a lot of hats. This has challenged me to me grow both professionally and personally.

What do you find to be most challenging about working at Cybba?

The most challenging thing for me is to stay up to date on the ever-changing digital world. Every day something new is developed or some radical improvement is made.  Being able to apply those changes and relay them back to the client can be difficult but exciting because you are constantly learning something new.

What has been your proudest moment at Cybba?

My proudest moment at Cybba was when I was invited to speak and present on behalf of Cybba at a state tourism conference. We ran a very detailed digital marketing campaign for them with great results.

If you could switch your job with anyone else within Cybba, whose job would you want?

I’d switch with Nicollette so I could have control of the office music and play country all day long.
