Employee Spotlight: Prath Shivdas

Every person at Cybba plays a key role in our success. Now in the Employee Spotlight is Prath Shivdas. Read about his journey at Cybba, and his insights on what has contributed to his success as our senior digital marketing analyst.

How long have you been in this position?
I started in August 2015, so almost 3½ years.

How did you start at Cybba and what made you want to join?
I was invited to interview by a Brandeis University alum. I interviewed for a media trading position, but given my background in financial operations and data analysis, I joined Cybba as a digital marketing analyst. At the time this was a new position. There was a huge opportunity to explore untapped data points, define team structure, and take on interesting projects.

What tips would you give an analyst entering the industry?
It is very important to be data-driven and have great attention to detail. Digital marketing is a well rooted yet constantly changing industry, and so is the data-driven culture around it. One must have a good understanding of business priorities, and focus their approach to achieve targets. I would suggest researching topics on web analytics and big data harmonization. Also, make sure your resume screams ‘background in statistics, economics or mathematics’.

What do you enjoy the most about your career?
My job involves working with all the teams at Cybba. I am not glued to my desk all day, and I like that. The analyst team has come a long way since I started. From updating day-to-day custom reports, managing the database, and calculating attribution models, it’s an exponentially growing learning curve where the rate of acquiring new skills is steeper than the experience itself.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?
I am enrolled in a part time mechanical engineering course specific to diesel engine fundamentals to pursue my interest in mechanics and restoring old motors.

What brands/companies do you personally admire?
I like brands in the motorsports and motorcycle apparel industry like Alpinestars, Dainese, Cortech, Klim, Leo Vince, etc.

What is your favorite place in Boston?
I am not a city person. My favorite place around Boston is World’s End in Hingham. The sweeping turns on the back roads, and the amazing view of the Boston skyline is worth the hike!

What are you currently binge-watching?
I’m watching Parks and Recreation for the fourth time.

How has Cybba helped in your career development?
Working with some of the best tech minds at Cybba has given me the opportunity to develop my skills beyond reporting and analysis.

What do you find the most challenging at Cybba?
Project priorities change quickly depending on client requirements. Putting together an operations machine is sometimes challenging since there are a lot of moving parts to a project and multiple teams involved.

What is your proudest moment at Cybba?
In the fall of 2017, Cybba went through a major change in data infrastructure and introduced a new reporting platform. The analysts and commercial team played a pivotal role in making a quick and smooth transition.

If you could switch your job with anyone else within Cybba, whose job would you want?
I would try a front end developer position. It is quite interesting to see our Tech team implement custom solutions and add new features to our products. Efficient problem-solving skills, multi-tasking, and cross browser testing are some of the common skills between the two teams.
